Danny explains why it’s so important to see the Marlins take an active approach to international free agency with the opening of the 2019-20 signing period last week (4:20), and how the major league team transformed from the first quarter of the season to the second quarter (10:00). He urges fans to be patient with the anemic offense (14:50), while highlighting Jordan Yamamoto as the Marlins pitching performance of the week (17:15).

This episode’s special guest is Dr. Ron Cox, a professor teaching political science at Florida International University (24:15). A longtime member of the Fish Stripes audience, he reflects on everything from the beginning of the Marlins franchise to the direction that they’re heading in under new ownership.

Aside from the several history books in his name, Dr. Cox authored Free Agency and Competitive Balance in Baseball with McFarland & Company in 2005. It is available on Amazon in paperback.
