On Episode 14, you get a full report on the hottest Marlins minor league affiliate, the Clinton LumberKings (0:40). Infielder Christopher Torres is igniting the offense while the pitching staff has consistently kept games within reach.

Then, our guest Jake Walters (7:45) joins us to talk the cutter, coming out of the University of Alabama, and beginning his pro career in 2019.

Enjoy Episode 14 of A-Ball!

Drafted in the ninth round last year, Walters is getting an opportunity in the LumberKings starting rotation following several midseason roster changes. The right-hander explains how he relies on his cutter’s movement and complements it with a slider and changeup to find success without spectacular velocity.

Through eight appearances (six starts), he has a 5.40 earned run average with 33 strikeouts in 26 23 innings pitched.
