Diamondbacks Lineup

  1. CF Jarrod Dyson
  2. 2B Ketel Marte
  3. 3B Eduardo Escobar
  4. LF David Peralta
  5. RF Adam Jones
  6. 1B Jake Lamb
  7. SS Nick Ahmed
  8. C Alex Avila
  9. P Zack Greinke (2.93 ERA, 3.19 FIP, 23.7 K%, 33.9 Hard Hit% in 135.0 IP)

Notes: Ketel Marte is a breakout star for the Dbacks, leading the team in practically every offensive category and producing 5.0 fWAR. Considering that there are still several years to go on his $24 million contract extension (plus club options for 2023 and 2024), he has emerged as one of MLB’s most valuable assets...Cuban slugger Yasmany Tomás was recalled from Triple-A Reno, where he had 29 home runs and a .944 OPS this season. He’s set to appear in a major league game for the first time since June 2, 2017 (also against the Marlins). Despite the power potential, other limitations to Tomás’ game have turned his $68.5 million contract into an albatross...Be warned that Greinke is not an automatic out at the plate like so many other pitchers these days. He’s slashing .261/.292/.565 with seven extra-base hits. Also, the 35-year-old could be a darkhorse candidate for the NL Cy Young award should anything could awry with Max Scherzer’s health.

Baseball Savant

Marlins Lineup

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. RF Brian Anderson
  3. 1B Garrett Cooper
  4. 3B Neil Walker
  5. 2B Starlin Castro
  6. C Jorge Alfaro
  7. LF Harold Ramírez
  8. CF César Puello
  9. P Sandy Alcantara (4.25 ERA, 4.82 FIP, 16.4 K%, 31.8 Hard Hit% in 112.1 IP)

Notes: FNTSY Sports Radio host Craig Mish drops the first Marlins-related rumor of trade deadline season, identifying the Twins as a suitor for veteran reliever Sergio Romo. Still contributing—on and off the field—as a 36-year-old pending free agent, Romo is the most clear-cut trade candidate on the roster...This series opener comes on the heels of two superb performances by Caleb Smith and Zac Gallen. They combined to limit the White Sox to one run in 14 innings while striking out 18 batters. That raises the bar for Alcantara, who hasn’t logged a quality start since June 21...Plenty of Marlins alumni are on hand for Throwback Weekend! Jeff Conine and Charles Johnson will handle the ceremonial first pitches. There is a “selfie station” at Section 12 on the Promenade Level featuring Conine, Johnson, Álex Arias and Tommy Hutton...Speaking of throwbacks, let’s hear which other uniforms you’d like to see revived in the future.
