Marlins Lineup

  1. RF Harold Ramírez
  2. DH Brian Anderson
  3. 1B Garrett Cooper
  4. 3B Neil Walker
  5. 2B Starlin Castro
  6. C Jorge Alfaro
  7. LF Curtis Granderson
  8. CF César Puello
  9. SS Yadiel Rivera

P Caleb Smith (3.47 ERA, 4.34 FIP, 30.6 K%, 37.0 Hard Hit% in 83.0 IP)

Notes: Third straight game without Miguel Rojas (right shoulder strain)...Before he was a regular in the heart of the Marlins lineup, Cooper had doubts about whether he’d even make it to the majors. He tells Kyle Glaser of Baseball America about why he nearly made to move to Japan in 2017 and what changes in his game made this breakout performance possible (subscription required)...Although Smith isn’t lined up to start during Throwback Weekend, the Marlins are having some fun with his “Dr. K” nickname.

White Sox Lineup

  1. RF Leury García
  2. LF Jon Jay
  3. 1B José Abreu
  4. 3B Yoán Moncada
  5. DH AJ Reed
  6. C Welington Castillo
  7. SS Ryan Goins
  8. 2B Yolmer Sánchez
  9. CF Adam Engel

P Dylan Covey (5.83 ERA, 5.67 FIP, 12.5 K%, 39.3 Hard Hit% in 41.2 IP)

Notes: Every White Sox starting pitcher that the Fish will see in this series has performed poorly this season, but Covey is probably the worst of the three in terms of true talent. That strikeout rate ranks at the very bottom of all MLB pitchers and he frequently gets barreled up. Hard to find any redeeming qualities about him, frankly. The bats better take full advantage while Covey is in the game because he’s coming off a recent case of shoulder inflammation and has not been fully stretched out yet. Five innings max.
