Mets Lineup

  1. RF Jeff McNeil
  2. CF Michael Conforto
  3. 1B Pete Alonso
  4. LF Dominic Smith
  5. 2B Robinson Canó
  6. 3B Todd Frazier
  7. SS Amed Rosario
  8. C Tomás Nido
  9. P Noah Syndergaard (4.68 ERA, 3.98 FIP, 22.9 K%, 30.1 Hard Hit% in 105.2 IP)

Notes: Ya know who’s probably better than you think? Dominic Smith. Once a highly regarded first-base prospect, Alonso’s presence has displaced him to the outfield. Although a defensive liability, the .304/.389/.551 slash line in irregular playing time is impressive...Speaking to reporters prior to the series opener, Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen singled out Syndergaard as somebody he expects to retain through the trade deadline despite his team’s need for young, controllable talent. This will be the right-hander’s first start on the road since May 29. Quite a contrast in styles from Jason Vargas.

Marlins Lineup

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. 1B Garrett Cooper
  3. RF Brian Anderson
  4. 3B Neil Walker
  5. 2B Starlin Castro
  6. LF Harold Ramírez
  7. C Jorge Alfaro
  8. CF JT Riddle
  9. P Zac Gallen (4.50 ERA, 2.87 FIP, 30.2 K%, 37.5 Hard Hit% in 12.0 IP)

Notes: There’s just something about Saturday home games that brings out the best in the Marlins (6-2 this season). Maybe the Sandy Alcantara All-Star poster giveaway will play a role in attracting a lively crowd...Both Tayron Guerrero (blister) and Martín Prado (hamstring) are seemingly on the verge of returning from the injured list. Optioning Adam Conley and Yadiel Rivera would be the most probable corresponding roster moves.
