Welcome to Thursday’s Marlins (23-36) vs. Brewers (34-28) game thread.

Throughout the 2019 season, Fish Stripes is your home for daily Fish Picks prop bets. The monthly points leader for June, July, etc. wins Fish Stripes merchandise prizes. The best seller in our store: Caleb “KKKKKKKaleb” Smith shirts!

Point totals have been reset as we begin a new month. The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Austin Dean
  2. 1B Garrett Cooper
  3. 3B Brian Anderson
  4. 2B Starlin Castro
  5. RF Harold Ramírez
  6. CF JT Riddle
  7. C Jorge Alfaro
  8. SS Miguel Rojas
  9. P Caleb Smith (3.10 ERA, 3.59 FIP, 33.8 K%, 37.0 Hard Hit% in 61.0 IP)

Notes: Brilliant stretch of baseball for the Fish lately, but still important to see the big picture—this offsets their brutal first quarter of the season, getting them back on track to lose only 95 games or so. Playoffs remain a pipe dream...If Riddle won’t be providing much offense (he’s slashing .171/.227/.341 in the majors this season), it is critical for him to get comfortable in center field. He looked the part on Wednesday with a pair of outfield assists.

Marlins Communications

Brewers Lineup

  1. CF Lorenzo Cain
  2. RF Christian Yelich
  3. LF Ryan Braun
  4. 2B Hernán Perez
  5. 3B Mike Moustakas
  6. 1B Jesús Aguilar
  7. SS Orlando Arcia
  8. C Manny Piña
  9. P Freddy Peralta (5.68 ERA, 4.81 FIP, 23.9 K%, 37.7 Hard Hit% in 38.0 IP)

Notes: The undersized Peralta—5-foot-11, 175 pounds—leans overwhelmingly on his 92 mile-per-hour fastball. It has accounted for 78.2% of his total pitches this season, per Statcast. The main secondary weapon is a curveball, with a changeup mixed in very sparingly...After exiting during his ninth-inning plate appearance with an injury, Cain apparently feels close to full strength this afternoon to help the Brewers in their attempt to avoid the sweep.
