Fish Bites Episode 25: Lessons learned from Marlins’ 5-win road trip

Daniel Martinez reviews perhaps the most successful week of the 2019 Miami Marlins season and welcomes in Kevin Smith for an entertaining interview.

Danny shouts out rookie starters Sandy Alcantara, Jordan Yamamoto and Zac Gallen (4:15) for their performances during the 5-2 Marlins road trip. Meanwhile, Brian Anderson and Garrett Cooper have been locking down the heart of the lineup and infield corners (13:00). The MLB news of the week was a zany, two-city proposal that would have the Rays playing home games in both Tampa Bay and Montreal. Danny makes it clear that the Marlins are not candidates for any sort of partial/full relocation for the foreseeable future (19:00).

Our special guest this week is Danny’s long-lost “brother from another mother” Kevin Smith (30:30). Their conversation touches on how Kevin’s passion for baseball began at an early age and the critical role that starting pitching plays in building a sustainable contender.
