Marlins Lineup

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. LF Harold Ramírez
  3. 1B Garrett Cooper
  4. 3B Brian Anderson
  5. 2B Starlin Castro
  6. C Jorge Alfaro
  7. RF Cesár Puello
  8. CF JT Riddle
  9. P Zac Gallen (Triple-A stats: 1.77 ERA, 3.25 FIP, 33.6 K% in 91.1 IP)

Notes: The Marlins roster moves used to bring up Gallen were designating Peter O’Brien for assignment and optioning Jeff Brigham to Triple-A New Orleans. Brigham had mixed results relieving with the big league club (5.87 ERA, 1.83 WHIP, 30.6 K% in 7.2 IP)...Adding context to the upsetting Pablo López injury, MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro reports that López threw a “really good” bullpen session on Monday, but felt shoulder discomfort the following day and notified the team.

Marlins Communications

The huge MLB news of the day is ESPN’s report about the Rays exploring the possibility of a two-city franchise with home games in both Montreal and the Tampa Bay region. Any thoughts you might have about that are welcome in the comments section!

Cardinals Lineup

  1. 3B Matt Carpenter
  2. SS Paul DeJong
  3. 1B Paul Goldschmidt
  4. LF Marcell Ozuna
  5. RF José Martínez
  6. C Yadier Molina
  7. 2B Kolten Wong
  8. CF Harrison Bader
  9. P Adam Wainwright (4.46 ERA, 4.59 FIP, 20.2 K%, 37.0 Hard Hit% in 70.2 IP)

Notes: Despite working six shutout innings on Wednesday, Daniel Ponce de Leon was optioned to Triple-A. That moves allows Wainwright to return to the mound after skipping a turn in the Cardinals rotation (left hamstring strain). It’s been nearly two full years since he last faced the Fish on July 3, 2017.
