Marlins Lineup

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. RF Harold Ramírez
  3. 1B Garrett Cooper
  4. 3B Brian Anderson
  5. 2B Starlin Castro
  6. LF Curtis Granderson
  7. C Bryan Holaday
  8. CF JT Riddle
  9. P Trevor Richards (3.68 ERA, 4.52 FIP, 21.0 K%, 34.7 Hard Hit% in 78.1 IP)

Notes: Very eventful day for the Marlins off the field, beginning with reports of Zac Gallen’s major league debut on Thursday. He rose to No. 5 on our updated top prospects list prior to the promotion and should have a long lease to stick at the MLB level. In the meantime, the official moves include José Quijada replacing Pablo López (right shoulder strain) on the active roster, and a trade to acquire outfielder César Puello, who’s taking the Rosell Herrera role. Learn more about Puello here...Also, the Marlins announced the signings of draft picks RHP Evan Fitterer (fifth round) and OF Tevin Mitchell (eighth round)...You may be surprised to learn that the Marlins have had a much better offense in June (92 wRC+) than the Cardinals (72 wRC+). However, a chunk of that can be attributed to luck—.334 BABIP for Miami, .262 BABIP for St. Louis.

Cardinals Lineup

  1. 3B Matt Carpenter
  2. SS Paul DeJong
  3. RF José Martínez
  4. LF Marcell Ozuna
  5. 1B Rangel Ravelo
  6. CF Dexter Fowler
  7. 2B Tommy Edman
  8. C Matt Wieters
  9. P Daniel Ponce de Leon (Triple-A stats: 3.90 ERA, 5.35 FIP, 19.2 K% in 55.1 IP)

Notes: Yadier Molina can’t catch every day. This is Matt Wieters’ turn. After an encouraging start to 2019, his bat has dried up in June, slashing .042/.042/.083 with 13 strikeouts in 24 plate appearances...Ponce de Leon is making his seventh career major league start. He owns a shiny 2.57 earned run average for the Cardinals the past two seasons, but the peripherals and scouting reports suggest that he’s more of a back-end-of-the-rotation type.
