Pirates Lineup

  1. SS Kevin Newman
  2. RF Bryan Reynolds
  3. CF Starling Marte
  4. 1B Josh Bell
  5. 3B Colin Moran
  6. LF Corey Dickerson
  7. C Elias Diaz
  8. 2B Adam Frazier
  9. P Steven Brault (5.05 ERA, 5.37 FIP, 18.5 K%, 39.7 Hard Hit% in 41.0 IP)

Notes: The Marlins may be catching Josh Bell at the perfect time. One of this season’s breakout stars (.320/.389/.653, 19 HR, 165 wRC+, 2.3 fWAR), he has seemingly come back down to Earth in June (.209/.314/.395)...JB Shuck, who was on the 2018 Marlins, is being given a legitimate shot as a two-way player in the Pirates organization (outfielder/left-handed reliever). Slashing .213/.339/.255 in 27 major league games this season, his bat alone doesn’t justify an active roster spot—he’s currently in Triple-A...Brault has 75 career pitching appearances, but this will be his first matchup against the Marlins.

Baseball Savant

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Austin Dean
  2. 1B Garrett Cooper
  3. RF Brian Anderson
  4. 2B Starlin Castro
  5. CF Harold Ramírez
  6. C Jorge Alfaro
  7. 3B Yadiel Rivera
  8. SS Miguel Rojas
  9. P Trevor Richards (3.31 ERA, 4.63 FIP, 22.3 K%, 35.7 Hard Hit% in 73.1 IP)

Notes: INF Martín Prado placed on 10-day injured list (right hamstring strain); RHP José Ureña transferred to 60-day injured list (left lower back strain); INF Yadiel Rivera selected from Triple-A New Orleans...Continuing to utilize Starlin as an everyday player in the heart of the lineup is entirely about showcasing him for contending teams, because his production simply doesn’t justify it (.226/.258/.303, 51 wRC+). Meanwhile, top second base prospect Isan Díaz says he’s ready for an opportunity...This morning, I received a PR email with a very strange headline. The message inside contained a link to SeatGeek’s fan-generated guide to Marlins Park. Might be useful to any of you attending games this weekend.
