Tuesday’s game
Elieser Hernandez got the start against the Cardinals for the recently IL’d Caleb Smith, and it was quite the debut, as the young pitcher kept the Fish in the game.
Goldschmidt slid safely under the tag to give the #Cardinals a 2-1 lead over the #Marlins. Hernandez exits after 5 2/3 inn. 7 Ks, 1 BB, 1 ER on 96 pitches.

The bullpen did the opposite, however, and the Cardinals wound up winning 7-1.
On the verge of being swept again and falling 20 games below .500 for the season, the Marlins will send Jordan Yamamoto to the mound vs. the Cardinals on Wednesday for his MLB debut. No pressure! https://t.co/Bk46Wh6uni

Hernandez spoke about his outing after the game. Don Mattingly commented on the loss.
In other roster news...
Today’s original scheduled starter José Ureña joined Smith on the IL with back tightness, meaning the team needs a replacement. They feel Jordan Yamamoto is up to the task and will call him up from Double-A Jacksonville.

Our own Earning their Stripes prospect podcast interviewed Yamamoto earlier this season.
Rock the vote
Currently, there are no Marlins in the top 10 at any position in the MLB All-Star voting, so it’s up to you to change that. You can find the ballot here.
In the event you’re looking to vote for Harold Ramirez, one of the Marlin’s hottest hitters of late, you won’t find him on the ballot. Here’s how you can get him to Cleveland (or any other Fish you can’t find for that matter).
If you go to vote in Harold and can't find him on the ballot, do NOT panic. Gotta pick him as a write-in candidate at the bottom of the NL outfield section. https://t.co/HxF3TEI5vu
