Giants Lineup

  1. 2B Joe Panik
  2. LF Mike Yastrzemski
  3. C Buster Posey
  4. 3B Pablo Sandoval
  5. 1B Brandon Belt
  6. RF Kevin Pillar
  7. SS Brandon Crawford
  8. CF Steven Duggar
  9. P Madison Bumgarner (4.10 ERA, 3.63 FIP, 24.9 K%, 44.1 Hard Hit% in 68.0 IP)

Notes: Bumgarner is perhaps the most obvious trade candidate on the Giants, a widely respected and playoff-proven starter with a reasonable salary and on the verge of free agency. He has regained some fastball velocity after being affected by injuries the previous two seasons, but he also owns a career-low 37.2% ground ball rate, contributing to the un-MadBum-like earned run average.

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Austin Dean
  2. RF Garrett Cooper
  3. 3B Brian Anderson
  4. 2B Starlin Castro
  5. CF Harold Ramírez
  6. 1B Martín Prado
  7. C Jorge Alfaro
  8. SS Miguel Rojas
  9. P Pablo López (5.40 ERA, 4.05 FIP, 22.8 K%, 34.7 Hard Hit% in 51.2 IP)

Notes: One of the big “themes” of this MLB season is former Marlins players peaking/overachieving elsewhere (Christian Yelich, Derek Dietrich, Chris Paddack, Luis Castillo, etc.). Marc Carig of The Athletic projects what it would look like if they joined forces in Miami and asks several of the stars themselves about that hypothetical (subscription required)...Back to reality, the Marlins and their minor league affiliates are dealing with more injuries at the moment than at any other point so far this season. I have updates!
