The Marlins lost again, so let’s lead with bigger news instead:
The Marlins actually did it: Lewis Brinson optioned to Triple-A

A few weeks overdue, but the appropriate move https://t.co/S65wREDQvk
The day started with the Marlins sending the over-matched Lewis Brinson back to Triple-A New Orleans to work on his mechanics. The team activated Garrett Cooper from the IL in a corresponding move on the roster but unfortunately appeared to get hurt when he took a pitch off his wrist. Fortunately, X-rays were negative said a visibly-relieved Cooper after the game.
REMINDER: All is not lost
Now would be a good time to remind people that Lewis Brinson wasn’t the only player acquired in the Yelich trade. There’s still 3 players who haven’t even made their ML debuts yet, including Monte Harrison, of the hottest hitters in the minors. .

As for the game…
Sandy Alcántara struggled again, giving up six runs (four earned) in 5.1 innings Tuesday night against Cleveland. Carlos Santana and Carlos Gonzalez did most of the damage, the latter breaking the game open with a three-run blast in the third. On the bright side, the Fish were able manufacture four runs off of an ace in Trevor Bauer, including Curtis Granderson’s fourth home run.

After the game, Don Mattingly addressed Alcántara’s issues, attributing them to a lack of confidence in his 98 mph fastball.

Things are not looking so good for High-A Jupiter right now, but at least Sixto Sanchez debuts for the Hammerheads on Thursday.
