Thanks for joining us for Saturday’s Marlins (8-19) vs. Phillies (15-12) game thread.

Throughout the 2019 season, Fish Stripes is your home for daily Fish Picks prop bets. I posted the full introduction toward the end of Spring Training. The monthly points leader for March/April, May, June, etc. wins Fish Stripes merchandise prizes. For example, new KKKKKKKaleb shirts!

(Do you know of any South Florida businesses who might want to sponsor additional Fish Picks prizes? Details here.)

The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Marlins Lineup

  1. 3B Jon Berti
  2. 1B Martín Prado
  3. RF Brian Anderson
  4. 2B Starlin Castro
  5. SS Miguel Rojas
  6. LF Isaac Galloway
  7. C Chad Wallach
  8. CF Lewis Brinson
  9. P Pablo López (4.44 ERA, 2.83 FIP, 25.9 K% in 26.1 IP)

Notes: No offense to a very hard-working player, but it’s hard to fathom Jon Berti batting leadoff for the Marlins one month into the regular season. Speaks to how unproductive all the other candidates for that role have been...López has one of MLB’s largest gaps between his earned run average and Fielder Independent Pitching marks. Can his teammates make more plays in the field behind him?

Phillies Lineup

  1. CF Andrew McCutchen
  2. SS Jean Segura
  3. RF Bryce Harper
  4. 1B Rhys Hoskins
  5. LF Nick Williams
  6. 2B César Hernández
  7. C Andrew Knapp
  8. 3B Maikel Franco
  9. P Zach Eflin (4.15 ERA, 4.94 FIP, 20.4 K% in 26.0 IP)

Notes: Scary moment in the second inning on Saturday when Segura took a Trevor Richards fastball to the helmet. Fortunately, he walked off the field under his own power and showed no signs of a concussion, so he’s been cleared to return immediately.
