Marlins vs. Indians: Start time, how to watch, game thread and Fish Picks—April 24, 2019

Game preview, lineups, news and props for Marlins vs. Indians in Cleveland.

MLB: Miami Marlins at Cleveland Indians David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

Thanks for joining us for Wednesday’s Marlins (7-16) vs. Indians (12-10) game thread.

Throughout the 2019 season, Fish Stripes is your home for daily Fish Picks prop bets. I posted the full introduction toward the end of Spring Training. The monthly points leader for March/April, May, June, etc. wins Fish Stripes merchandise prizes. (Do you know of any South Florida businesses who might want to sponsor additional Fish Picks prizes? Details here.)

The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Curtis Granderson
  2. DH Martín Prado
  3. RF Brian Anderson
  4. 1B Neil Walker
  5. 2B Starlin Castro
  6. C Jorge Alfaro
  7. SS Miguel Rojas
  8. CF Isaac Galloway
  9. 3B Jon Berti

P Sandy Alcantara (5.09 ERA, 1.48 WHIP, 19.0 K% in 23.0 IP)

Notes: It’s a baby two-game series, but yes, a Marlins win on Wednesday would count as a sweep!...I will have a piece up Thursday on Lewis Brinson, because this team’s handling of him continues to be bizarre and detrimental to his long-term future...Congrats to Jarlin García on the birth of his daughter Génesis. He remains on paternity leave.

Indians Lineup

  1. DH Francisco Lindor
  2. CF Leonys Martin
  3. 3B José Ramírez
  4. 1B Carlos Santana
  5. RF Carlos González
  6. 2B Jason Kipnis
  7. C Kevin Plawecki
  8. LF Jake Bauers
  9. SS Mike Freeman

P Jefry Rodríguez (3.18 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, 13.6 K% in 5.2 IP)

Notes: Similar to Alcantara, Rodríguez is a hard-thrower—average 95.3 mph fastball—who occasionally struggles with control. In 15 career major league appearances, he has never pitched beyond the sixth inning, so the shaky Indians bullpen will need to factor into this game.

How to watch/listen/follow
