Marlins vs. Indians: Start time, how to watch, game thread and Fish Picks—April 23, 2019

Game preview, lineups, news and props for Marlins vs. Indians in Cleveland.

MLB: Washington Nationals at Miami Marlins Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Thanks for joining us for Tuesday’s Marlins (6-16) vs. Indians (12-9) game thread.

Throughout the 2019 season, Fish Stripes is your home for daily Fish Picks prop bets. I posted the full introduction toward the end of Spring Training. The monthly points leader for March/April, May, June, etc. wins Fish Stripes merchandise prizes. (Do you know of any South Florida businesses who might want to sponsor additional Fish Picks prizes? Details here.)

The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Curtis Granderson
  2. 1B Martín Prado
  3. RF Brian Anderson
  4. DH Neil Walker
  5. 2B Starlin Castro
  6. C Jorge Alfaro
  7. SS Miguel Rojas
  8. CF Isaac Galloway
  9. 3B Jon Berti

P Pablo López (5.85 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, 26.4 K% in 20.0 IP)

Notes: Hooray, the designated hitter! The beginning of interleague play allows the Marlins an extra bat in the lineup to improve on their anemic 2.73 runs per game average...On Tuesday afternoon, rookie José Quijada replaced fellow left-hander Jarlin García (paternity list) in the bullpen. Quijada hasn’t appeared in a major league game before...Our sister site Let’s Go Tribe invited me on their podcast to discuss Derek Jeter, the #BabyFacedAces, Miguel Rojas and more big-picture Marlins topics (beginning around the 27-minute mark of the episode). Enjoy!

Indians Lineup

  1. SS Francisco Lindor
  2. CF Leonys Martin
  3. 3B José Ramírez
  4. 1B Carlos Santana
  5. DH Carlos González
  6. 2B Jason Kipnis
  7. C Roberto Perez
  8. LF Jake Bauers
  9. RF Tyler Naquin

P Carlos Carrasco (7.41 ERA, 1.77 WHIP, 36.3 K% in 17.0 IP)

Notes: Lindor, Cleveland’s superstar shortstop, is just a few games removed from the injured list. His return to the roster came at the expense of old friend Hanley Ramírez, who remains in DFA limbo (no, the Marlins won’t be picking him up, sorry)...Carrasco would rank third among AL qualifiers with that 36.3% strikeout rate if he had enough innings to qualify.

How to watch/listen/follow

The game gets underway at 6:10 p.m. ET. Watch on FOX Sports Florida and via MLB.TV or listen on 940 WINZ.
