Marlins vs. Nationals: Start time, how to watch, game thread and Fish Picks—April 19, 2019

Game preview, lineups, news and props for Marlins vs. Nationals in Miami.

Jasen Vinlove-USA TODAY Sports

Thanks for joining us for Friday’s Marlins (4-15) vs. Nationals (9-8) game thread.

Throughout the 2019 season, Fish Stripes is your home for daily Fish Picks prop bets. I posted the full introduction toward the end of Spring Training. The monthly points leader for March/April, May, June, etc. wins Fish Stripes merchandise prizes. (Do you know of any South Florida businesses who might want to sponsor additional Fish Picks prizes? Details here.)

The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Nationals Lineup

  1. RF Adam Eaton
  2. 3B Anthony Rendon
  3. LF Juan Soto
  4. 1B Ryan Zimmerman
  5. C Kurt Suzuki
  6. 2B Brian Dozier
  7. SS Wilmer Difo
  8. P Aníbal Sánchez (4.86 ERA, 1.50 WHIP, 14.9 K% in 16.2 IP)
  9. CF Víctor Robles

Notes: Arguably the most accomplished active player who’s never been an All-Star, Rendon has shifted into an even higher gear of production. He’s slashing .379/.447/.788 with 15 extra-base hits and 20 runs scored in 17 games...After spending the first half of his career with the Marlins, Sánchez has fared well against them since being traded away (2.91 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 21.6 K% in 21.2 IP)

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Curtis Granderson
  2. 1B Neil Walker
  3. 3B Brian Anderson
  4. C Jorge Alfaro
  5. 2B Starlin Castro
  6. SS Miguel Rojas
  7. CF Isaac Galloway
  8. RF Rosell Herrera
  9. P Caleb Smith (2.65 ERA, 0.88 WHIP, 32.3 K% in 17.0 IP)

Notes: Combined with the off day, this gives Lewis Brinson an extended stretch of limited activity to focus entirely on swing adjustments, according to Don Mattingly...Herrera has gone ice cold at the plate as well—1-for-his-last-20—and you wonder how much longer until Yadiel Rivera gets consideration for the utility man spot instead...The Marlins are creating some separation from the rest of the pack in the race for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.
