Marlins vs. Phillies: Start time, how to watch, game thread and Fish Picks—April 14, 2019

Game preview, lineups, news and props for Marlins vs. Phillies in Miami.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Thanks for joining us for Sunday’s Marlins (4-11) vs. Phillies (8-5) game thread.

Throughout the 2019 season, Fish Stripes is your home for daily Fish Picks prop bets. I posted the full introduction toward the end of Spring Training. The monthly points leader for March/April, May, June, etc. wins Fish Stripes merchandise prizes. (Do you know of any South Florida businesses who might want to sponsor additional Fish Picks prizes? Details here.)

The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Phillies Lineup

  1. LF Andrew McCutchen
  2. SS Jean Segura
  3. RF Bryce Harper
  4. 1B Rhys Hoskins
  5. CF Odúbel Herrera
  6. 2B César Hernández
  7. 3B Scott Kingery
  8. C Andrew Knapp
  9. P Vince Velasquez

Notes: J.T. Realmuto is presumably available off the bench should a close contest in the later innings call for a pinch-hitter...The Phillies are just beginning a difficult stretch of 16 games in 16 days. Puts extra pressure on them to “take care of business” against the rebuilding Fish.

Marlins Lineup

  1. LF Curtis Granderson
  2. 3B Brian Anderson
  3. 1B Neil Walker
  4. 2B Starlin Castro
  5. RF Austin Dean
  6. SS JT Riddle
  7. C Chad Wallach
  8. CF Lewis Brinson
  9. P José Ureña

Notes: Partially for reasons beyond his control, Ureña has nine career MLB starts in March/April...and the Marlins are 0-9 in them. His hideous 9.22 earned run average in 2019 thus far is the result of bad luck (.415 BABIP) and bad pitch location...Even with Ureña weighing them down, the starting rotation has been the strength of the Marlins. Caleb Smith stepped up on Saturday with six scoreless frames in the 10-3 win. Fish Stripes sent Danis Sosa to the game to snap some pics (gallery below).
