Marlins vs. Rockies: Start time, how to watch, game thread and Fish Picks—March 30, 2019

Game preview, lineups, news and props for Marlins vs. Rockies in Miami.

Through the years, Fish Stripes has hosted a “game within the game” during the Marlins regular season. Gives us a distraction from low-quality baseball, presenting an opportunity to win even when the team gets blown out.

The concept will survive into 2019, but under a new name and format. Icthyomancy is out, “Fish Picks” is in.

I posted the full introduction toward the end of Spring Training.

The Grapefruit League prop bets were just for fun. That changes now—the monthly points leader for March/April, May, June, etc. wins Fish Stripes merchandise prizes.

The Fish Picks leaderboard will update daily to let you know where you stand.

Rockies Lineup

  1. RF Charlie Blackmon
  2. LF David Dahl
  3. 3B Nolan Arenado
  4. SS Trevor Story
  5. 1B Ryan McMahon
  6. CF Ian Desmond
  7. 2B Garrett Hampson
  8. C Chris Iannetta
  9. P Tyler Anderson

Notes: It’s been a well-balanced attack for the Rockies so far, with seven different players scoring runs through two games...Desmond doesn’t grade out as a strong defensive center fielder, but he silenced a lot of haters with this web gem.

Marlins Lineup

  1. SS Miguel Rojas
  2. RF Rosell Herrera
  3. 3B Brian Anderson
  4. 2B Starlin Castro
  5. CF Lewis Brinson
  6. 1B Martín Prado
  7. LF Curtis Granderson
  8. C Chad Wallach
  9. P Pablo López

Notes: All four Marlins runs this season have scored on solo homers, which is pretty much the exact opposite of what we had been expecting from the offense...Wei-Yin Chen is the only reliever on the roster who hasn’t been used yet...The 6,503 paid attendance on Friday night was even worse than I imagined; hopefully, that rebounds somewhat on Saturday to spare us from more stale jokes and South Florida stereotypes.

How to watch/listen/follow
