Welcome to SB Nation FanPulse, a survey of fans across MLB. Each week, we send 30 polls to plugged in fans from each team. Marlins fans, sign up HERE to join FanPulse.

Seems like you folks are fired up coming off that long Spring Training winning streak! Don Mattingly heads into the 2019 season as a lame duck, but maybe it’s time to petition the front office about a contract extension?

In the very first Fish Stripes FanPulse survey (conducted earlier this week), 86 percent of respondents approved of Donnie’s current job performance.

No doubt, he fostered a competitive environment in Jupiter (despite the widely held opinion that the Marlins are destined for last place). The young pitchers, in particular, responded to his message and forced their way into the Opening Day rotation.

But wait, there’s more...the survey also included forward-looking questions about where the Fish are headed with this rebuild:

Are you confident in the direction of the team?

95% Yes

5% No

Will your team win the World Series this year?

10% Yes

90% No

The vast majority are rallying around Derek Jeter’s vision, with a few dreaming of this core arriving way, way, way ahead of schedule. We’ll see if that optimism keeps up once the real games begin.
