Ever since taking over as Marlins manager, Don Mattingly has spent part of the offseason serving the community that raised him. This year is no different, as Mattingly Charities hosts its fourth annual Find A Way Event on Thursday night at the City View Event Center in his hometown of Evansville, Indiana. Proceeds from their online auction and the event itself support the local organizations that administer athletic, social development, and educational advancement programs to Evansville kids.

The auction features 123 items, most of them baseball-related. Bids began coming in last month and the auction closes at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday. You can browse them all at Handbid or download the app.

Many of these items have been provided by Mattingly from his personal collection, while others are being donated by particular players and teams, including the Marlins.

In 2019, Mattingly will be entering the fourth and final year of his Marlins contract. CEO Derek Jeter and president of baseball operations Michael Hill have both applauded the job he’s done, but the team will need to improve upon last season’s 63-98 record to give him a shot at sticking around long term.

Former major leaguer (now MLB Network broadcaster) Harold Reynolds and entertainer Joe Piscopo will join Mattingly in person on Thursday night. The event has already sold out.
