Roster talk

As we creep all too slowly towards Spring Training, J.T. Realmuto also inches closer to being traded. Now that the Dodgers have locked up A.J. Pollock, they have even more outfielders to spare and have thusly intensified talks with the Marlins. There are other teams still in on Realmuto, too.

MLB.com took a crack at prediction all 30 Opening Day rotations. Our Daniel Martinez says it’s a deep staff, no matter who makes it. The site’s Marlins beat writer Joe Frisaro on updated the closer situation and other goings on in the bullpen.

In the minors

Baseball Prospectus and Baseball America released their Top 101 and Top 100 prospects lists, respectively. A couple of Marlins are mentioned; can you guess whom?

Baseball America’s top-10 in the Marlins organization can also be found here.

Marlins great Juan Pierre re-joined the franchise as its minor league outfield coordinator. In addition to the former speedster, the team announced the hiring of several other minor-league coordinators and coaches.

While on the subject of Pierre, it’s been a good week for interviews, as not only did the former speedster do a Q&A with the Athletic, but we at Fish Stripes had some time with Paul Severino.

Several minor leaguers got spring-training invites. Check out our profiles of them to read up.

Finally, there was more big news from the AAA affiliate, as new ballpark renderings for the move to Wichita were released. They also made additions to their coaching staff.
