Update: The league is now FULL. Thanks to all those who reached out. We’ll notify you if there are any new openings between now and the draft.
On the night of January 14, 2019, I left a Miami hotel after being elected Commissioner of Baseball. As I began to reply to the overwhelming number of congratulatory messages coming in, it hit me that I’d just been entrusted to protect the integrity of our national pastime and to set a course that allows this great game to continue to flourish—now and in the years to come. Needless to say, I was deeply honored by the trust the owners placed in me.
Today is my first day as Commissioner, and I decided we need a shake-up. I have fired all owners and will be having interviews to find new ones. I have entered all players back into the draft pool.
Major League Baseball will now on be known as...
Major League of Fish Stripes
The existing league had been taken over by a few teams with all the money. I am sick of it! Growing up, I dreamed of what would happen if all players were free agents again and the league had a redraft, so like the many visionaries before me, I made it happen.
I welcome new people who have never owned a team to come on board and join our great sport, people who will one day pass their love of baseball down through the generations. That is what our parents and grandparents did for us, and it is what we are doing for our own children.
The league will only have four divisions; Fish Stripes East, West, South and North. Five teams in each division. Eight of the twenty teams will make the playoffs. Competition is key! I have also decided to move every team out of their current city and placed them in new ones. If you are so lucky to take ownership of a team, I ask that you don’t move them or change the name without contacting me first.
The rosters will remain at 25 per team, including 1 player per position, 5 starting pitchers, 5 relievers. Your bench will have 7 spots—use them wisely.
Below, I will provide the rules and regulations of the league. If you think you have what it takes to compete in the greatest league in existence, send us your email. First come, first serve.
The Major League clubs have bestowed an extraordinary opportunity upon me. My pledge is to work every single day to honor their faith in me and your love of this game.
Draft: February 17th 2019 at 7:00 p.m. ET (if you cannot make the draft, please do not accept a team!). You will have 30 seconds to pick; this is to ensure you’re paying attention and move this along.
Scoring: Explained once in the league. Please review all scoring rules prior to the draft. If the stats count in MLB, they count here.
Player Acquisition System: Post draft free agent acquisition system. Season budget: $120
