Dan Straily: 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 4 K, 1 HR
Chris Archer: 6.0 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 1 HR
Dan Straily last night pitched what could be his last game of the season. He went four and two-third innings before being taken out of the game with a left oblique strain. He is currently placed on the day to day list, but with a Marlins season going nowhere this could be it for him.
Straily had one mistake this game and it came in the second inning. After a Corey Dickerson double, Josh Bell came up and launched a two-run home run into the seats. After that Straily settled down. He even ended pretty strong, striking out the side in the fourth inning. He was not having an amazing season by any means, but he was getting better.

The Fish were pretty quiet in the game, they only scored in the sixth inning. J.T. Realmuto doubled on a ground ball into left field to get things started. He has been hot with a .333 average and three home runs in the last seven days. Brian Anderson followed this up with a walk. After a Miguel Rojas strikeout Lewis Brinson was up. Brinson proceeded to take Archer deep on a three-run home run to left field, 3-2 Fish. Brinson is batting .500 since being re-called to the Majors.

The Pirates did not wait long to strike back though. Tayron Guerrero came in the next inning for relief, but it was anything but that. Jordy Mercer started the inning off with a double. After getting Starling Marte to fly out, Kevin Kramer singled on a 1-1 pitch. Jordan Luplow then blasted his own three-run home run to give the Pirates a 5-3 lead.
The sixth inning was all the run support the Fish could muster last night. The rest of the Marlin’s bullpen pithed fine. The offense was quiet, and the starting pitching did not go far due to injury. The Fish continue to chug along, but there are some bright spots. Brinson continues to look like the prospect the Fish thought they were getting. Wei-Yin Chen will face off against Ivan Nova at 1:05 pm today.

Matchup Summary:
The Fish have Dan Straily on the mound tonight going against Chris Archer and the Pirates. Straily pitched eight innings of beautiful ball in his last start. Archer is also coming off a great start, so this should be a good pitchers duel.
Game Thread Question: Rate Straily’s season.
