Miami Marlins links 9/19/18: Sandy struggles, Strasburg dominates

Plus, all your Hump Day Marlins links, ya’ll.

Last night’s game:

Sandy Alcantara was wild over his four innings last night, allowing three earned runs and 12 Nat baserunners, while Stephen Strasburg struck out 11 on the way to a 4-2 win over the Fish. Local boy, Peter O’Brien, provided a highlight.

He later spoke about the homer. Of course, Don Mattingly summed up the whole evening.

Don’t look now, but the Marlins might have traded two MVP’s last offseason before 2018 is all said and done. But hey, at least Magneurys Sierra is improving.

And don’t forget the unexpected surprise Brian Anderson has been this year.

And while the MLB season is tough, it’s nada compared to surviving a hurricane, something Yadiel Rivera knows a lot about.

Sister site Minor League Ball is doing a “You’re the GM” series and the most recent edition is on your favorite team. (If you decide to take part, we want to know your thoughts here in the comments, too.) If you need to reference the farm system to prepare for the debate, we have you covered.

But why stop there? Wouldn’t you rather actually be on the team? Got you covered there, too.

Up next:

Today is one of those weird, Wednesday off-days, so the next game will take place at 7:10 p.m. Thursday. The Fish continue will their homestand against the Reds. It will be the battle of 0-2 pitchers as Jeff Brigham takes the mound against Cincinnati’s Cody Reed.
