The Marlins lost 16-2 Monday against the Braves. Ok well that was between two games, but that does not make it any better. The Fish lost the second game of a split double header 6-1, it was just another disappointing outing for the Fish. The offense was non existent and the pitching crumbled. It is upsetting to see the Fish go on great streaks and then dip so deep into these valleys.
Merandy Gonzalez: 4.2 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 HR
Mike Foltynewicz: 8 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 7 K, 0 HR
Mike Foltynewicz pitched a great game against the Fish. The bats were missing mostly everything and there was little to no energy from the Fish. Merandy Gonzalez struggled a bit.
The first inning was when Gonzalez ran into trouble. Ronald Acuna Jr. led off the game with a solo home run. The game started on the wrong foot and the offense from the braves was not done yet. The Braves strung together three singles in the first, to make the score 2-0.
Gonzalez then pitched pretty well until he got to the fifth inning. He again gave up three singles, resulting in another run scored. The game was now 3-0 Atlanta and Gonzalez was taken out before the inning ended. The Braves tacked on two runs in the sixth inning and one in the seventh to finish up their offense for the night.
The Fish had a runner in scoring position in the first inning, but nothing came out of it. J.T. Realmuto had doubled and Starlin Castro drew a walk afterwards. Brian Anderson came up with one out and grounded out into a double play.

The Marlins would score one run in the sixth inning. This again came off of offense from Realmuto and Castro. Funny enough this time Realmuto walked and Castro doubled to bring him home. This was really the only offense in the game. This was a really rough double header for the Fish, the season is what it is right now. The Marlins next 13 games look horrifying, so strap on in.

UPDATE: Miguel Rojas exited tonight’s game with a left ankle contusion. He is day-to-day.

Matchup Summary:
The Marlins lost the first game of the double header in painful fashion. The Braves clobbered the Fish 9-1. The Fish were beaten until tender, only putting together three hits the whole game. Pablo López gave up five runs during his five and one innings pitched.
The Fish will have Merandy Gonzalez pitching tonight. He was called up to fill in for the double header. He has had mild success in the minors, but has been hot as of recent. The Marlins will be looking for one strong start from him before he goes back down.
The Braves will have Mike Foltynewicz on the mound tonight. He has had a solid season so far posting a 2.98 ERA. He is also riding two strong starts so he should put up a fight tonight. The Fish will look to rebound after an embarrassing day game.
