Icthyomancy Round #5

And we’re back! A few things to keep in mind as we review this week’s contest. First off, we announced our prize for the winner two weeks ago. Once again, here are our rules if there is someone that has no idea what Icthyomancy is:

Attendance

Attendance is a big deal in Marlins baseball, like it or not. In each game, we will guess the attendance of the game, home or away, and the closest guess will be worth 2 points.

Individual Games

You can make your best prediction for game scores. A pass costs you nothing. Post your prediction of the score, and if it’s a direct hit (with the correct teams), that’s three points. If you pick the correct winner and by the actual number of runs, that’ll be two points. Predict which team wins, and that’s a single point.

Individual Predictions

These are our prop bets. You’re allowed to make up to two “outside the box” predictions for each contest. Points will be awarded based on the probability of something happening at my discretion. If you’ve predicted something unfathomably rare (a no-hitter, pitcher hits two home runs, Justin Bour steals seven bases) and it comes true, that’s going to be a lot of points. Everyday things will be worth less. What the heck? The game is free - swing for the fences.

Game 39 (May 12th)

Atlanta Braves: 10 Miami Marlins: 5 Attendance: 12,383

Gustavopim starts off this week with 2 points for the attendance pick. 2qbn received 1 point for Brian Anderson recording at least 1 hit. MarlonD grabbed 2 points for picking Garcia’s walk number.

Game 40 (May 13th)

Braves 4: Marlins 3 Attendance: 7,435

Only one correct pick for this game. 2qbn got 2 points for the attendance pick.

Game 41 (May 15th)

Marlins: 4 Los Angeles Dodgers: 2 Attendance: 6,242

Lots to dole out here! 2qbn, once again, gets 2 for attendance. Paolo2387 received a total of 10 points this game. To break that down further: it was 2 points for the win and the score differential, 2 points for a Martin Prado 2 hit game, 3 points for a JT Realmuto RBI, and 3 points for a Brad Ziegler save. Gustavopim received 1 point for the win and 1 point for the Justin Turner prop bet. MarlonD also picked the win and was given 1 point for it. Additionally, MarlonD picked up 3 points for Brian Anderson having a 2 hit game.

Game 42 (May 16th)

Marlins: 6 Dodgers: 5 Attendance: 5,721

2qbn, for the third game in a row, got the 2 points for attendance. Additionally, 2qbn received 4 points for calling Elieser Hernandez’s innings pitched and 2 points for Anderson hitting an RBI. Paolo2387 snagged 1 point for the win and 2 for Realmuto’s RBI. MarlonD also received 1 point for the win.

Game 43 (May 17th)

Dodgers: 7 Marlins: 0 Attendance: 13,820

Paolo2387 broke 2qbn’s dynasty with the attendance pick for the game. 2 points to Paolo!

Game 44 (May 18th)

Marlins: 2 Braves: 0 Attendance: 27,705

Gustavopim snagged 2 points for the attendance pick. Paolo2387 took 7 points overall with 3 points coming from the Fish getting on the board first and 4 points for the 2 XBH prop bet.

Game 45 (May 19th)

Braves: 8 Marlins: 1 Attendance: 37,715

Paolo2387 took the attendance pick for the day. 2 points for Paolo! I’ll add 2 more points to Paolo’s pile with the double play prop bet. 2qbn named the Braves as the winning team and that Urena would take the loss as the Marlins’ starting pitcher. 2 points in total for those picks. Gustavopim was given 2 points for the Anderson +2 hits prop bet.
