The best and weirdest Fish Stripes GIFs from the second week of the 2018 season.

Every Friday during the 2018 Marlins season, we will use this series to feature Fish Stripes original GIFs created that week. A variety of game highlights and silliness for our loyal readers to share or save for posterity.

From here, you can download them to your own device. On a phone/tablet, tap the image once to separate it from the article, then hold it down to save. On desktop, click the image once to separate, then right-click to save.

Keep in mind, MLB Advanced Media has their own “GIF & Embeddable Video Hub” that you can explore by searching for “Marlins” or any individual players. Our Fish Stripes GIFs capture moments that are not included in MLB’s hub.

A night to Ph-orget

FOX Sports Florida’s Jessica Blaylock delivers one of the few Marlins highlights from the most lopsided loss in franchise history (20-1 final score).

“Hitting is timing. Pitching is upsetting timing.”

Emergency pitcher Bryan Holaday literally slowed down to batting practice speed—61.6 miles per hour—to retire Rhys Hoskins. He described it as a “palm ball,” and we’ll hopefully see more of it if Holaday sticks on the active roster throughout the season.

2018 Miami Marlins: fundamentally unsound

Cameron Maybin makes the play! But probably could have done a better job calling off Braxton Lee...and looking the ball into the glove. Two other Marlins outfielders were involved in a similar awkward play the following night.

When your crush finally talks to you, but you freeze up

Big man on campus

Justin Bour began the season in an ugly funk, but found success with two opposite-field home runs on Tuesday. Even a locked-in Bour rarely does that.

Well-deserved round of applause

Left-hander Jarlin García had family fly in from the Dominican Republic for his first career MLB start. They were not disappointed—García kept a no-hitter intact until Don Mattingly’s controversial decision to turn the game over to the bullpen.

The gold standard for baseball brawls

Bench-clearing brawls were very much in the news this week. May we always cherish this Gaby Sánchez clothesline on Nyjer Morgan from 2010.
