After besting his teammates in almost every statistical category during the regular season, Marlins star catcher J.T. Realmuto one-upped them once more by winning the team’s fantasy football league.
Craig Mish of Sirius XM as well as his own Swings and Mishes Marlins podcast tweeted out Realmuto’s roster Sunday night, indicating that the slugger’s 193.3 points were enough to win the point-per-reception league, no matter the result of the Broncos-Raiders game on Christmas Eve. Mish himself was in the league, along with Kyle Barraclough and fellow catchers Bryan Holaday and Chad Wallach.

Examination of Realmuto’s “Real Money” roster reveals that he was carried to victory by Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson’s 43.5 total points, which included two rushing and two passing touchdowns in a loss to Philadelphia. Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey, undoubtedly one of Realmuto’s early-round picks, saw a career high in touches and racked up 178 yards to do his part in the win.
Perhaps most importantly, the GM’s wise lineup decisions came up huge in the victory. The Packers’ Jamaal Williams, likely a waiver add in the final week following Aaron Jones’ move to injured reserve, was a gutsy call in the fantasy season’s championship week. Starting the Seahawks’ Doug Baldwin after a disappointing year fraught with injury also took moxy, but the former Stanford standout repaid Realmuto’s faith in him with his first 100-yard game of the season and a touchdown that helped pave the road to the title.
Fish Stripes would like congratulate you on yet another outstanding season, J.T. We’d also like to extend an open invite to any current or former Marlins to compete against us in our site’s fantasy league in 2019. Colby Olson holds a slim, 10-point advantage over Redd Garcia in our two-week championship, with the ever-unpredictable Week 17 to decide things in the final slate of the NFL regular season.
