Top 2018 highlights from Marlins right-hander Dan Straily

Straily finished the season exactly where he started it: on the disabled list. But in between, the veteran starter featured some nasty secondary pitches and surprising plate discipline.

These could be Dan Straily‘s final days with the Marlins. MLB Trade Rumors estimates that the soon-to-be 30-year-old would earn a raise in arbitration for the 2019 season (from $3.375 million to approx. $4.8 million) despite mixed results. The team can simply non-tender him by Friday’s deadline if they’d like to part ways.

Although the overall stats from last summer were underwhelming (122.1 IP, 4.12 ERA, 5.11 FIP, 1.30 WHIP), Straily had his fair share of highlights. Appreciate the damage he did in the batter’s box, too; the right-hander posted a .350 on-base percentage, better than Peter O’Brien, J.T. Realmuto or Justin Bour!
