The Miami Marlins have kicked off the 2017 MLB trading season by parting ways with shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria, who was sent to the Tampa Bay Rays today for two prospects, outfielder Braxton Lee and RHP Ethan Clark.
Hech has been out of action since May 10th because of an oblique strain, and almost as soon as we heard he’d be returning, the rumor mill started churning that he wouldn’t be returning with the Fish.
From what I'm hearing, lots of action and talks to move Adeiny Hechavarria by @Marlins Nothing appears imminent

The Cardinals have also asked Marlins about Hechavarria, along with Rays and Oriole's.

Things remained relatively quiet over the weekend while the teams involved maneuvered behind the scene. On Miami’s part there was undoubtedly a sense of urgency to get a deal done quickly as Hech’s return from the DL would’ve forced a corresponding roster move.
Then a little more light was shed on the subject this morning:
#Marlins close to trading Adeiny Hechavarría, source confirms. #Rays are the favorite to land him, as @JoeFrisaro reported. @MLBNetwork @MLB

And finally, confirmation:
Deal is done: Hechavarria to Rays for two minor-leaguers, outfielder Braxton Lee and RHP Ethan Clark.

Coming back in return for Hech is centerfielder Braxton Lee and RHP Ethan Clark. The 23 year old Lee slashed .318/.387/.391 for the AA Montgomery Biscuits in 261 at bats thus far this year. Clark has been starting for the Class A Bowling Green Hot Rods where he’s appeared in 12 games and compiled a 3-2 record with a 3.11 ERA.
The Marlins are apparently content to go with JT Riddle at short for now, though it remains to be seen if he’ll withstand the challenge to his starting status that Miguel Rojas will present when he returns from the DL.
Hechavarria originally came over from the Toronto Blue Jays as a part of the infamous 12 player trade after the conclusion of the disastrous inaugural season at Marlins Park.In five seasons with the Marlins, Hech slashed .255/.292/.336 with a 70 wRC+, largely failing to deliver up at the plate but flashing some serious leather in the field.
Yeah, that glove could play.
