The Marlins placed relief pitcher Brad Ziegler on the 10-day DL because of a back strain, and to replace Ziegler, they reinstated reliever Junichi Tazawa from the disabled list.

In his first season with the Marlins, Ziegler has not produced like the Marlins hoped he would when they signed him in free agency. Ziegler is 1-2 with a 6.52 ERA and a 1.83 WHIP. His current ERA is by far the highest of his career.

Many expected Ziegler to be a key part of the Marlins bullpen after he compiled a 2.25 ERA with two teams last year. He posted an ERA of 1.52 in 29.2 innings pitched with the Red Sox.

Ziegler has allowed five runs in just 1 2/3 innings over his last two appearances. He signed a two-year deal worth $16 million with the Marlins last offseason.

Miami reinstated Tazawa, who landed on the DL because of rib cage inflammation. Tazawa also struggled mightily before being placed on the disabled list. He recorded an ERA of 6.60, which is much higher than his career ERA of 3.72.

Tazawa only pitched in 15 innings before getting injured, and he last pitched on May 15 against Houston. He signed a two-year deal worth $12 million with the Marlins last offseason.
