New Orleans Baby Cakes 7, Colorado Springs Sky Sox 2
The Baby Cakes (16-29) scored three runs in the first inning on a Tomas Telis RBI-single, a Destin Hood sacrifice fly, and a Sky Sox throwing error. It was all they needed on Tuesday night in a 7-2 win over the Sky Sox (25-16).
3,892 were on hand to witness Stephen Fife (3-2, 4.15) whiff six Sox in as many innings, allowing two runs on eight hits and a walk. He earned a 58 GameScore (twice that of opposing starter Brandon Woodruff (5-3, 3.40)). Odrisamer Despaigne earned a three inning save, striking out three and allowing only two baserunners.
Peter Mooney went three-for-four, drawing a walk, scoring twice, and raising his batting average for the season to a slightly less embarrassing .169. Steve Lombardozzi, Telis, and Matt Juengel also collected multiple base hits. Destin Hood hit his team-leading ninth homer of the season, a solo shot in the fifth.

Jupiter Hammerheads 1, Tampa Yankees 3
The Jupiter Hammerheads (17-28) and 361 fans welcomed the Tampa Yankees (23-23) to Roger Dean Stadium, losing the second game of the three-game series, 3-1.
Jorgan Cavanerio (0-2, 2.04) took the loss despite allowing just one earned run on five hits and a walk in five innings. He did allow two unearned, and struck out two for a 45 GameScore. Cavanerio got 41-of-65 pitches over the zone. He was bettered by compatriot Zack Littell (5-1, 2.14), who went seven frames and allowed one run on a walk and six hits, striking out eight Hammerheads.
Offensively, batters one-through four went a collective one-for-14, compared with the bottom five, who went five-for-18. Brad Haynal collected two singles and is now hitting .307 this seaosn. Brian Schales added his second round tripper for the only run of the day for Jupiter.

Greensboro Grasshoppers 2, Lakewood Blueclaws 3, 10 innings
For the second game in a row, the Grasshoppers (25-19) dropped an extra inning affair by a 3-2 score to the Lakewood Blueclaws (26-19), with 3,470 present at FirstEnergy Park.
Dustin Beggs pitched a quality start for no-decision, earning a 66 GameScore with six whiffs in seven innings. He allowed two runs on five hits and zero walks, with 61-of-83 pitches in the strikezone.
Boo Vazquez reached base four times, with two singles, a double, and a walk. James Nelson and Walker Olis each collected two singles and a walk, and Eric Gutierrez also reached base twice, on two singles.
Michael Mertz (2-1, 1.77) took the loss despite striking out three in the ninth inning, when he allowed a Edgar Cabral double followed by a Luke Williams sacrifice bunt. Nelson was charged with a throwing error on the winning run.
