New Orleans Baby Cakes - Triple-A
Pacific Coast League
Salt Lake Bees 9 @ Baby Cakes 3
The Cakes lost their fifth home game in a row and 15th in their last 20 games overall. This speaks poorly for the Marlins farm system as a whole, though this should be a surprise to no one who has been following the team.
To make matters worse, the Baby Cakes hottest hitter, Isaac Galloway had to leave the game in the first inning with an injury while trying on a slide to avoid an out at home. It is unclear if Galloway will miss any time. Galloway has just won the Pacific Coast League’s hitter of the week.
On the positive side, KC Serna homered for the cakes, while Peter Mooney added two hits. Another positive was that the Baby Cakes drew over 8000 fans for the 12 pm game.
On the negative side, the Cakes held the game close, trailing 3-2 in the top of the ninth, when Clayton Mortensen came in and ended up giving up six runs without getting an out.

Jupiter Hammerheads – Single -A Advanced
Florida State League
Hammerheads 1 @ Palm Beach Cardinals 7
Trevor Richards went six innings while giving up only one earned run for the Hammerheads, but the prep pitcher was bested by Cardinals starter Zac Gallen who went eight shutout innings while giving up only three hits.
Naturally, not much to speak about from the Hammerheads hitting perspective. Kyle Barrett doubled, and John Silviano singled in the only Jupiter run, and even then, not until the ninth inning.
