Pitching Matchup

Team Pitcher 2017 ERA 2017 FIP 2017 ZiPS Projected ERA
NYM Robert Gsellman 0.00 0.87 4.12
MIA Adam Conley --- --- 4.02

Gsellman has gotten some ROTY love (seriously, are the Mets ever going to run out of top pitching prospects), but as you can see from the ZiPS projection he's probably a couple years away from being above average (if he gets there at all). He has decent (but not plus) velocity at 93 MPH and a good cutter/sinker.

Adam Conley makes his season debut today. I will be paying close attention in particular to Conley's walk rate (sitting at 4.19 per nine last season). If he can cut that down he could be in for a pretty good season. If he can't, he's basically a left-handed Tom Koehler.

Today's Lineups

MIAMI MARLINS NEW YORK METS
J.T. Realmuto - C Curtis Granderson - CF
Miguel Rojas - 2B Asdrubal Cabrera - SS
Christian Yelich - CF Yoenis Cespedes - LF
Giancarlo Stanton - RF Wilmer Flores - 3B
Justin Bour - 1B Neil Walker - 2B
Marcell Ozuna - LF Jay Bruce - RF
Derek Dietrich - 3B Lucas Duda - 1B
Adeiny Hechavarria - SS Travis d'Arnaud - C
Adam Conley - LHP Robert Gsellman - RHP

Dee Gordon gets the day off, Miguel Rojas in at 2nd (and the two hole), JT Realmuto back in after his day off, sliding up to lead-off.

Question of the day:

Will Adam Conley surpass 2.0 fWAR in value this season? (he finished up last year at 1.4 fWAR)
