After Thursday night’s extra innings loss to the Mets, the Marlins recalled left-hander Jarlin Garcia from Double-A, according to MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro.

Nick Wittgren was optioned to Triple-A in the corresponding roster move.
The Marlins’ bullpen was taxed in the loss, so the club almost certainly made the move to add a fresh relief option for manager Don Mattingly to consider. Wittgren pitched three scoreless innings and is the lone pitcher in Miami’s bullpen who still has minor league options remaining.
Garcia, 24, will have the chance to make his major league debut. He opened the year with Double-A Jacksonville and will have a relatively quick chance to make an impression on Miami’s staff.
Wittgren will likely be recalled in the coming days.
