Spring training is officially here, so it only makes sense to talk about the World Series. The odds the Marlins win the World Series are 75/1, according to Bovada.
Miami enters 2017 without a clear ace but still boasts a pitching staff with a notable amount of experience. Tom Koehler, Edinson Volquez and Wei-Yin Chen will likely anchor the staff.
If the Marlins remain competitive for one of two Wild Card spots, it will likely be the result of an effective bullpen. The Marlins wanted to build a “super bullpen” and added enough depth to at least make it seem like one.
A.J. Ramos, David Phelps, Kyle Barraclough, Janichi Tazawa and Brad Ziegler almost certainly will keep the Marlins in games during the later innings.
The offense will have to produce, too, and despite not adding a bat the Marlins seem to be in a good position. It might be hard for the Marlins to win a World Series in 2017. But there is always a chance.
