First baseman Tyler Moore and left-hander Kyle Lobstein are among the free agents the Marlins signed as non-roster invitees, the club announced Tuesday.
Moore, 29, could serve as a right-handed complement to Justin Bour at first base. However, the Marlins seem open to naming Bour the starter and using J.T. Realmuto at first when Bour gets a day off.
Moore last appeared in the majors in 2015, when he hit .203 with the Nationals.
While Moore would give the Marlins bench depth, Lobstein might be a valuable addition to the bullpen if he earns an opportunity. Miami’s bullpen as of now isn’t expected to feature any left-handed relievers, which the Marlins seem to be OK with.
Lobstein, 27, posted a 3.96 ERA and 4.67 FIP over 25.0 innings with the Pirates last season.
