Two NL East foes will meet for the last time this season, as the Miami Marlins will battle Philadelphia Phillies for one last series this weekend at Citizens Bank Park. The Marlins are coming off a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves, where they took two of three games from the last place Braves. The Phillies just split a four-game set with the Pittsburgh Pirates, their in-state rival.

The Phillies will look to play spoiler to the resurgent Marlins, as the Phillies are all but out of the playoff race, while Miami remains 4.0 games back of the second NL Wild Card.

Team Starter ERA FIP 2016 ZIPS Projected ERA
MIA Tom Koehler 3.97 4.33 4.23
PHI Adam Morgan 5.73 5.09 5.72

The Marlins are 5-2 in their last seven games. Philadelphia enters tonight’s contest having won just 8 of its last 28 games against National League East opponents. The Marlins will send Tom Koehler to the mound, who last pitched against the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he pitched five innings, allowing six hits and four runs in the loss.

The right-handed pitcher is 9-11 this season, and he sports a WHIP of 1.42 in 161 innings pitched. Koehler is the first of three right-handed pitchers to start this weekend for the Marlins. The Marlins in 2-6 in Koehler’s last eight starts on the road.

The Phillies will be countering with Adam Morgan, who last pitched against the Washington Nationals, when allowed three hits and two runs to the Nationals. Morgan enters today’s contest with a 2-10 record, while posting a 1.43 WHIP in 99 innings pitched. The Marlins have won their last four road games against a left-handed starter. Philadelphia is 1-7 in Morgan’s last eight home starts.

Prediction: Marlins defeat Phillies, 4-3
