Christian Yelich played a great game as the Marlins took advantage of a shaky Jacob deGrom to snap a season worst five game losing streak and beat the Mets 6-4. Yelich hit a home run, two singles, drove in four runs, and stole two bases. He also made an amazing diving catch with the bases loaded and two outs, although he did drop a routine fly ball for an error.
Jose Urena (3-5) vastly outpitched deGrom as the Marlins avoided a four game sweep. The Mets made it interesting when Asdrubal Cabrera hit a pinch hit htwo run home run off Fernando Rodney in the ninth inning. The Mets fell two games behind the St. Louis Cardinals with the Marlins being another game back.
DeGrom struggled all night, he gave up three runs, six hits, and four walks in five innings of work. While Urena gave up four hits and one run in six innings. Jay Bruce did hit a home run and his RBI single in the eighth inning. The Mets had the bases loaded before Michael Conforto grounded into a double play while Yoenis Cespedes struck out.
Yelich's home run lift the Marlins stagnant bats which had scored only eight runs in their five losses. Next up for the Marlins is game three game series vs the Cleveland Indians.
