Tom Koelher and the Marlins will look to bounce back after feeling the wrath of Jeremy Hellickson and the Phillies yet again last night.
Currently tied for the second Wild Card spot, the Fish will need to take these next two games in this series before their next two series against the Cardinals and Cubs.
Pitching Matchup
Team | Starter | ERA | FIP | 2016 ZIPS Projected ERA |
PHI | Jerad Eickhoff | 3.94 | 3.97 | 4.58 |
MIA | Tom Koehler | 4.42 | 4.40 | 4.24 |
Koelher (7-8) looked great in his last start a week ago against these same Phillies, only giving up two hits and one earned run in an eight-inning win. Koehler has struggled with consistency this year, as he hadn't pitched past the fifth inning in almost a month before his last start.
Jerad Eickhoff (6-11) hasn't had a great month of July, and gave up six runs over five innings in his start against Miami last week. Christian Yelich went 2-for-5 with a solo shot off the rookie in that start. Eickhoff took a loss in his only other start against the Marlins on May 16, giving up three runs over six innings.
