It's a Father's Day showdown in Miami, as the Marlins look to take game three and clinch this four game series against the 32-35 Colorado Rockies.
The Rockies currently hold third place in the NL West, behind the San Francisco Giants, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, while the Marlins are also in third.
Pitching Matchup
Team | Starter | ERA | FIP | 2016 ZIPS Projected ERA |
COL | Tyler Anderson | 1.42 | 1.24 | 4.97 |
MIA | Tom Koehler | 4.25 | 3.93 | 4.13 |
Koehler, who is 3-1 in his last four starts, will take on one of the hottest offenses in the league in the Rockies, who have a team combined .270/.332/.458 slash line, 84 homers, and 625 hits. The Rockies' hitters haven't meant much trouble for Koehler so far in his career, but he has struggled against second baseman D.J. LeMahieu, who is 6-11 in his career against Koehler. Anderson makes his second career start this Father's Day, coming off of a quality no-decision performance against the San Diego Padres one week ago. Anderson relies on his low-90's four-seam fastball, but has a few solid secondary pitches as well.
