Heroes and Zeroes: Marlins 9, Rockies 6

Wei-Yin Chen had a bad third inning, but JT Realmuto and Justin Bour went deep to get the Marlins their second consecutive win over the Colorado Rockies.

Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

Throughout the 2016 regular season, I'm tracking each player involved in each Marlins game. Using the WPA metric (Wins Probability Added), we can order the players from the most positive impact all the way down to most negative. The top three are our "Heroes," and the bottom three rank as our "Zeroes."

Heroes

JT Realmuto (MIA) +39.3%

Realmuto batted seventh in the order and caught for Miami. He reached first base on a dropped strike three in the second inning (+3.1%). After that, he hit a no-out double to left in the third (+7.6%), smacked a three-run homer in the fifth (+27.8%), hit an infield single with a runner on base in the sixth (+0.6%), and hit another infield single with a runner on in the eighth (+0.2%). It was Realmuto's 48th career multi-hit game, and his fourth four-hit game.

Justin Bour (MIA) +21.5%

Bour batted sixth and played first base for the Marlins. He struck out swinging with runners on the corners to end the first (-4.1%), hit a two run homer in the third (+16.8%), singled with a runner on first in the fifth (+8.5%), and drew a two-out walk in the sixth (+0.4%).

Christian Yelich (MIA) +17.4%

Yelich batted third out of left field for the Fish. He hit a one-out single in the first with a runner on first (+6.5%), hit a bases-loaded, two-RBI single to center field in the second (+14.8%), flew out to left for the second out of the fourth (-2.1%), ended the fifth on an infield grounder (-0.9%), and flew out to left to end the seventh (-0.8%).
