This game deserves so much more then I have to give it at the moment, but I wanted to make sure we had something up, so here is your very abbreviated recap.
Here is why the Marlins won this game:
The Marlins would put up five runs in the first off of Drew Pomeranz, who had been pretty good all season long. The Padres would score two themselves but five turned out to be sufficient to capture the game on the Marlins' behalf.
- Tom Koehler checked in with a solid performance: Six innings, two earned runs, one walk, eight strikeouts.
- Kyle Barraclough, David Phelps, and AJ Ramos all did their part to secure the final three innings.
- Giancarlo Stanton last night: One hit, one walk, one strikeout.
- Ichiro! did not log a hit in his lone appearance last night, and thus is one shy of not really but kind of tying Pete Rose in hits.
