The Miami Marlins face the San Diego Padres in the second of a three-game series, the first of which ended in a romp in favor of the Fish. Tonight, it will be Tom Koehler who will take the hill and hope to be a beneficiary of another hot night at the plate for Miami.
Pitching Matchup
Team | Starter | ERA | FIP | ZIPS Projected ERA |
SD | Drew Pomeranz | 2.44 | 2.86 | 3.26 |
MIA | Tom Koehler | 4.36 | 4.18 | 4.20 |
Pomeranz has magically become an effective starter after one year spent being an effective reliever. He has been apparently rehabilitated as a former top prospect The Marlins wish they could do the same with Koehler, who has not been effective for much of the season.
Giancarlo Stanton returns to the lineup after a day off in the first contest of this series. Adeiny Hechavarria will lead off with Miguel Rojas starting instead of Derek Dietrich with the left-handed Drew Pomeranz on the mound. Side note: Adeiny Hechavarria is the team's worst hitter. Whoops!
Notes
- Stanton struggles slide something something PANIC!
- Can the rest of the outfield make up for Stanton's continued problems at the plate?
- Jeff Mathis is playing. It is what it is.
- Good Koehler or Bad Koehler? We'll find out soon enough.
Bold Prediction: Marlins def. Padres 4-3
