As much as I thought Friday's victory over the Diamondbacks was a tale of two games (with Nicolino's shaky performance followed by the seventh inning Miami outburst), yesterday was even more Jekyll and Hyde as Jose Fernandez looked poised to do something special and then utterly, spectacularly collapsed in the sixth.
Jake Lamb was quoted after the game as saying "It's probably the best half-inning we've had all year." The Sand Snakes stole one yesterday, and made me realize that there are few things I enjoy less in baseball than being another team's high point of the season.
So I would like the Marlins to come out hot for revenge today, smoke these Snakes and march with a head full of steam and righteous indignation to San Diego tomorrow. Leading the charge for Miami will be Adam Conley, standing fast for House Dorne the Snakes is Robbie Ray.
Pitching Matchup:
Team | Starter | ERA | FIP | 2016 ZIPS Projected ERA |
AZ | Robbie Ray | 5.14 | 4.50 | 4.11 |
MIA | Adam Conley | 3.76 | 3.64 | 3.94 |
Realmuto leading off, Johnson in at first against the lefty, Rojas in at short, batting eighth.
Bold Prediction: Marlins destroy Diamondbacks 12-2.
