Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports

For the first five innings it was smooth sailing for the Marlins, but like they did last night the Phillies never lost their composure and came back to squeak by the Marlins 6-5. The loss dropped the Marlins to 16-14 good for fourth place in the NL East. The Marlins next welcome the Milwaukee Brewers for a three game series, first pitch is Monday at 7:10.

Justin Bour grounded out, Marcell Ozuna got on base with a single and advanced to second base off a throwing error by Aaron Nola during Derek Dietrich's at bat. Dietrich would eventually strike out, J.T. Realmuto grounded out for the third out.

Another easy inning for Nicolino, Aaron Nola and Peter Bourjos both grounded out while Odubel Herrera struck out swinging.

The bats stayed asleep for the Marlins as Adeiny Hechvarria lined out, Justin Nicolino went down swinging, and Ichiro Suzuki grounded out.

Once again Nicolino only gave up one hit in the inning however Cesar Hernandez got things off the inauspicious  start with his triple. However Hernandez could not get home as Maikel Franco and Cameron Rupp grounded out and Darin Ruf flied out.

Finally some signs of life in Marlin's bats three straight singles by Martin Prado, Christian Yelich, and Justin Bour and Marlins are up 1-0. Marcell Ozuna struck out, but Derek Dietrich hit a ground rule double bringing home Yelich, Bour advanced to third base, and most importantly the score was now 2-0. The Marlins went up 3-0 after J.T. Realmuto grounded out but Bour was able cross home plate. Adeiny Hechvarria was intentionally walked during the at bat Nola threw three balls and a wild pitch. Lastly Justin Niclino was caught looking.

Andrew Bailey relived Aaron Nola on the mound for the Phillies. Adeiny Hechavarria grounded out,  Chris Johnson tied game at four after his solo home run. Thinking they had the game in their hand David Phelps came out of the bullpen to relive Nefi Ogando. Phelps struck out Cameron Rup, walked Ryan Howard, and had Freddy Galvis fly out. Then it all went south as Tyler Goedel doubled bringing home Emmanuel Burriss, who was a pinch runner for Howard. With score tied 5-5 Andres Blanco hit a double to bring up Goedel and put the Phillies up 6-5. The bleeding was over after Peter Bourjos flied out, but the damage was done.

Martin Prado gave a dash of hope with his infield single, but he was left stranded on first base as Christian Yelich flied out to end the game.
