Nick Wittgren will get another opportunity.

Miami placed Bryan Morris on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with lumbar disc herniation, the club announced.

Morris, 29, pitched to a 3.06 ERA and 6.43 FIP over 17.2 innings. He was a consistent member of the Marlins' bullpen last season, pitching to a 3.14 ERA and 3.64 FIP over 63.0 innings.

The move is retroactive to Wednesday.

In the corresponding roster move, the Marlins recalled Nick Wittgren from Triple-A New Orleans.

Wittgren, 24, pitched to a 3.18 ERA and 5.74 FIP over 5.2 innings in an earlier stint with the Marlins this season.

Morris joins lefty Mike Dunn as Marlins relievers on the disabled list.

Miami's bullpen ERA ranks ninth in baseball and is the fourth-best in the National League.

The Marlins acquired Morris from the Pirates before the 2014 non-waiver trade deadline. He boasts a career 2.80 ERA and has proven to be valuable in a setup role with the Marlins.
