The Miami Marlins and the Washington Nationals will meet for the fifth time tonight at Marlins Park. This will kick off a three game series between the NL East foes. The Marlins (21-19), are coming off a seven game road-trip, in which they went 3-4.
This included a two game spilt with the Nationals. Tanner Roark will be on the mound for the Nationals tonight, and it seems the Marlins have his number. All of Roark’s losses this year have come against the Marlins, including last week, when he gave up seven runs.
He has an 8.03 ERA this year against the Marlins, and Miami has hit .404 against him this year. Going against Roark might be a wakeup call for Giancarlo Stanton. Stanton went 4-28 over the seven game road-trip, and he went 0-7 in the team’s last series against Philadelphia.
Justin Nicolino will be on the mound for the Marlins. Nicolino gave up four runs in the Marlins 6-4 loss last week against the Nationals.
Daniel Murphy has been on fire for the Nationals this season. Murphy leads the MLB in average, as he has hit .397 so far this season. Washington (25-16) will look to build off a series when they took two of three games from the division rival Mets.
Prediction: Marlins, 3, Nationals, 1
