Heroes And Zeroes: Phillies 3, Marlins 1

Miami didn't get anything going until the ninth inning against the Phillies, earning none of the Heroes and all of the Zeroes for Tuesday night.

Vincent Velasquez (PHI) +26.1%

Velasquez struck out 10 Fish in just five innings pitched, getting 68-of-103 pitches over the plate. He allowed no runs of any sort, giving up three hits and two walks for a 1.000 in-game WHIP. He lowered his seasonal ERA to 2.42 and ran his record to 5-1.

Tommy Joseph (PHI) +20.3%

Joseph got the party started for the Phils in the second with a leadoff home run for a 1-0 lead. He added a two-out single to right in the fourth and a one-out single in the sixth, on which Cesar Hernandez scored on an error by Marcell Ozuna.

Peter Bourjos (PHI) +9.1%

Bourjos hit a two-out RBI single in the fifth to double the Phillies lead to 2-0.

He flew out to center to leadoff the third, struck out for the second out of the fifth, and struck out with two runners on for the second out of the seventh. He later earned Miami's only RBI of the day with a sacrifice fly to center field, which scored Adeiny Hechavarria.

Bour ended the first frame with a harmless foul out which left two runners stranded in scoring position. He ended the third inning with a strikeout and runners on the corners, flew out with a runner on first for the second out of the sixth, and struck out for a third time to end the eighth. He left a total of five runners on base.

As on most days where the Marlins lose, it was an ugly sight at the Ichthy scoretable. Marlon D calling for a Prado double was inspired and worth two points, but that was the only thing to write home about. That and nearly 50% of the panel correctly guessing Stanton as a Zero.

Miami has a rubber game with the Phillies this afternoon just after 1PM. Get your picks in early as the Marlins presumably send Tom Koehler back to the hill.
